WGN’s Paul, Pat, and staff made Maryann and me feel at ease during out segment today! You can watch the footage here.
Thanks to WGN for their interest in covering chickens and promoting my business. Check out the other tabs on my blog if you’re interested in learning more about Home to Roost’s services, local chicken-keeping resources, classes (attending or hosting), and general chicken-related questions.

I really hope someone fixes the chicken feeding schedule mistake. They are NOT to bed fed twice a day like dogs, but rather should have access to their food from sunrise to sunset.

Hi, Cassandra –
Thanks for the observation! You are indeed correct. It seems that meaning was lost in editing.
For the record, here is the list of bullets I sent them:
Basic advice
• Educate yourself before getting chickens. Take a class, visit coops, read a book.
• Consider your schedule. You need to tend the birds twice a day.
• Build the best coop you can afford. Many of my clients regret skimping on the coop.
• Plan for long term. They can live up to 10 years.

Saw your segment today. Good job. Shame they didn’t ask better questions. You could easily field them.
