Columbia College Student Covers Home to Roost in a Documentary Film

Check out the humorous, witty, and cinematographically pleasing results of hours of being followed by a camera and hooked up to a microphone! Mary Horan, a Columbia College student followed me for a few months to get a variety of footage, most of it involving urban poultry!

As it turns out, my wacky sense of humor comes out, as does my passion for chickens!

YouTube Video Featuring Home to Roost at EarthFest 2011 in Oak Park

I brought a buff Orpington rooster to EarthFest this year, just to jazz things up a bit! The intermittent crowing was a good crowding-gathering gimmick, and it was fun to be working with poultry testosterone again! Here’s a little video posted on YouTube! Watch for the chicken pix!

EarthFest is a community-based event that draws green vendors of both products and services.

Home to Roost Client Writes About Her Chixperience

One of my Oak Park clients is writing for Patch.com! She emailed earlier this year with a definitive “I am ready for chickens!” and asked for my Home to Roost package deal! I scoped out the yard, gave tips and pointers, checked on the new babies, and responded to a call when one of them died. Read all about it here! We Have Chickens!

Mike Nowak Talks Chickens

Mike Nowak, Chicago’s premiere urban gardening radio host, has picked up the chicken trend here in Chicago. His November 14, 2010, radio show featured Martha Boyd with Angelic Organics Learning Center.

Mike thinks chickens are funny – well, a friend told me that any word with a “k” in it sounds funny – so when I tell folks I’m an urban chicken consultant, to prevent myself from chuckling, I just remember that words with a “k” in them sound funny!

Check out Mike’s web page for the urban chicken links and the podcast! If you want to skip to the urban chicken bit, it begins at around 1:42.
