Co-Owner of The Feed Store injured in accident


We were very sorry to learn that Brooke Ann Bestwina, one of the owners of The Feed Store in Summit, IL, was badly injured in a car/scooter accident earlier this month (see article in Desplaines Valley News). We are wishing her the best and hope she will be back at the store soon!

The Coop Tour is a self-guided tour of backyard coops and eco-spaces, presented by Chicago Chicken Enthusiasts in partnership with Advocates for Urban Agriculture.

What are the common health issues chickens face, and how can you treat them? Better yet, how can you keep your flock healthy? This class addresses chicken physiology, disease prevention and transmission, as well as chicken first aid. Cost is $20.

Chicken Coop Basics Virtual Workshop, July 25, 2020


This class addresses what you need to know about building a safe and comfortable home for your hens. Join us online on Saturday, July 25 from 2pm – 4pm! You’ll learn about the main features of coops, allowing you to take that knowledge and come up with your own custom design. Find out the essential components of a coop, learn dos and dont’s for choosing construction materials, get important construction tips, and see different coop styles.

Saturday, July 25, 2pm – 4pm. Cost is $20.
